The Role
The Quality Director will work with engineering, operations and production to build robust quality processes and ensure regulatory compliance. This role is critical in establishing and maintaining compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 requirements while supporting product development, manufacturing, and continuous improvement initiatives from prototype to final production.
Requested Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Quality Assurance, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 standards and certification processes.
- Experience implementing and maintaining Quality Management Systems (QMS).
- Proven experience supporting product lifecycle from prototype through production.
- Familiarity with risk management methodologies (e.g., FMEA, CAPA, root cause analysis).
- Experience with regulatory compliance and audits (internal and external).
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Proficiency with quality tools, data analysis, and documentation systems.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of the company’s Quality Management System (QMS).
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 standards and maintain certification readiness.
- Oversee product quality from prototype development through validation and full-scale production.
- Develop and enforce quality standards, standard operating procedures, and work instructions.
- Lead internal audits and coordinate external audits.
- Develop and manage corrective and preventive action (CAPA) processes.
- Drive root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Conduct supplier evaluations and oversee purchasing processes.
- Define and track key quality metrics and report performance to leadership.
- Provide training and mentorship on quality standards and best practices.
- Organize quality related meetings, such as top management meetings, design reviews, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
