About the role
PMI is an established and fast growing ISO 9001/AS 9100/ISO 13485 certified contract manufacturer of high precision machined parts and electro-mechanical assemblies in Montgomeryville, Pennsylvania (18936). We provide manufacturing services from concept, through prototype and production, to just-in-time delivery. PMI has been delivering products to an array of industries including semi-conductor equipment, medical devices and surgical instruments, electronics, aerospace and defense, etc. for over 40 years.
PMI is seeking a highly qualified and technical Quality Engineer to support its continued world-wide growth in machining and assembly. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
Technical abilities
- Interface with engineering and manufacturing operations on designing in-process inspection programs, conducting root cause analyses, and ensuring that the in-process controls are in place for successful machining and assembly of products that meet customer specifications.
- Must have extensive hands-on experience in blueprint drawing reading and interpretation of customer technical requirements and specifications. Additionally, should be able to design and identify the inspection methodology and inspection tools required to verify a part meets the drawing specifications.
- Solid understanding of and extensive experience with geometric tolerancing and dimensioning
- Familiarity with datum target start point fixturing concepts for castings is a strong plus
- Root cause analysis and implementation of corrective action for process related concerns.
- Develop and initiate standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation
Managerial duties
- Manage the daily schedule of the quality inspection team. Support quality inspectors to ensure that products and processes comply with the relevant requirements of the quality management system.
- Should be able to offer technical guidance to quality inspectors on inspection methodology, inspection procedures and blueprint drawing interpretation. Extensive technical experience with blueprint reading and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing required.
- Responsible for planning, organizing and managing the overall activities of receiving and outgoing quality functions.
Quality Management Systems (previous experience preferred but not required)
- Responsible for maintaining the quality management system. Extensive experience with ISO 9001, AS 9100, and ISO 13485 quality management systems in a manufacturing environment and successfully leading registrar audits and client audits.
- Conduct audits, including closing out audit findings, creating audit finding reports and determine proper corrective and preventive actions.
- Analyze failure, corrective and preventive action to respond to customer complaints.
- Create and maintain company quality documentation, such as quality manuals, quality procedures, etc.
- Continuously improving QA receiving inspection process and procedures.
- Ensure timely resolution of supplier failure, corrective actions and preventive actions.
- Manage suppliers’ performance and conduct audits.
- Preparation of QA reports
- Responsible for continual improvement activities to enhance the quality system
