Position Summary

We are currently seeking a highly accomplished Quality IMS QHSSE Director Construction UAE to join our senior executive team in Abu Dhabi. This role is specifically designed for a technical leader who views Quality as the non‑negotiable foundation of all engineering and construction excellence. As the primary authority for our Integrated Management System (IMS), you will be responsible for the strategic oversight, implementation, and continuous evolution of our corporate governance frameworks across a diverse portfolio of complex, large‑scale projects.

Detailed Responsibilities & Strategic Mandate

  • Corporate Governance Excellence: Act as the lead architect for the corporate Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring 100% adherence to ISO 9001:2015 standards and local UAE regulatory requirements.
  • IMS Integration & Harmony: Seamlessly harmonize Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSSE) protocols into a single, high‑performing IMS framework that drives operational efficiency and reduces departmental silos.
  • Audit Leadership & Oversight: Direct all high‑level internal and external audits. You will ensure that engineering and construction processes remain beyond reproach through rigorous verification and validation techniques.
  • Advanced QA/QC Frameworks: Drive sophisticated quality assurance processes, including material inspections, technical testing, and deep‑dive root cause analysis (RCA) for any quality deviations at the site or corporate level.
  • Risk Management & Resilience: Develop and implement advanced risk assessment frameworks to safeguard project delivery and operational integrity in a high‑compliance engineering environment, focusing on long‑term project stability.
  • Executive Advisory & Board Liaison: Partner with the Board of Directors and senior leadership to embed a “Quality‑First” culture across every business unit, ensuring that leadership engagement is visible at every project site.
  • Continuous Improvement (CI): Establish and monitor complex QHSSE KPIs, utilizing data‑driven insights to recommend and implement preventive actions and process optimizations that keep the organization at the cutting edge of the industry.
  • Emergency & Crisis Preparedness: Develop robust emergency preparedness plans and oversee crisis response coordination to maintain the highest safety and quality standards under all conditions.

Professional Requirements & Qualifications

  • Extensive Industry Experience: A minimum of 20 years of professional experience within the Construction or Engineering sectors, with a significant portion of that time spent in the UAE or Middle East markets.
  • Senior Executive Leadership: At least 10 years of proven success in a Director, Head of Department, or equivalent senior management capacity within a reputable engineering firm.
  • Specialized Technical Expertise: Deep technical mastery of QA/QC and Integrated Management Systems is the highest priority for this selection process.
  • Mandatory Certification: An ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification is essential. Additional credentials, such as NEBOSH International Diploma or ISO 14001/45001 Lead Auditor certifications, are highly valued.
  • Academic Background: A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related technical field is required to understand the complex engineering requirements of the role.
