Role Purpose
The Rating Analyst will support the development and assignment of credit and ESG ratings, providing rigorous financial and non-financial analysis to inform rating decisions. The role contributes directly to the organization’s rating process, methodology application, and rating committee activities, ensuring outputs are analytically sound, consistent, and aligned with regulatory expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed financial analysis, including: financial statement review o ratio and trend analysis cash flow assessment o credit risk evaluation
- Perform ESG analysis, assessing environmental, social, and governance factors
- Prepare: o rating reports o rating rationales o sector and industry analysis
- Participate in rating committee deliberations
- Apply approved rating methodologies consistently
- Monitor rated entities and update analysis as required
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
Professional Certification (Preferred)
- ACA / ACCA / CFA
Regulatory Requirement (Mandatory)
- Candidate must have been assessed and approved as a Fit and Proper Person by the Securities and Exchange Commission Nigeria for a Capital Market Operator function. Evidence of such approval will be required and verified during the selection process.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in: o financial analysis o credit analysis o investment analysis o rating agency or capital markets environment

- Ability to interpret financial and ESG data
- Strong report writing and presentation skills
- High level of integrity and professional judgment
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Rating Analyst specializing in Financial & ESG Analysis, based in Lagos. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing financial statements, performing ratings assessments, conducting financial and operational analyses, and evaluating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors. The role requires generating reports, presenting findings, and supporting decision-making processes for clients while ensuring adherence to regulatory and industry standards.
Additional Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in Financial Statement Analysis and Financial Analysis
- Highly developed Analytical Skills and the ability to interpret data
- Experience with Ratings methodologies and frameworks
- Exceptional Communication skills for report writing and presentation
- Attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
- Prior experience in ESG analysis or a related field is an advantage
- Proficiency in standard financial analysis tools and software
