R&D Application Engineer (f/m/d), Research & Development

About

In this R&D role, you will help integrate and test complete CMM systems and components across Hexagon sites. You translate customer needs into test applications and collaborate with experts to resolve issues, while supporting Marketing and Service with key deliverables. You will demonstrate advanced features, stay current with new application engineering approaches, and contribute to ISO-related programs. This position offers impact through cross-site collaboration and hands-on technical problem solving.

• Translate constraints and customer needs into specifications for test applications
• Develop application programs for part measurement and ISO requirements
• Assess customer measurement processes (MAS, GR&R, Cp/Cpk)

• Interface with Marketing and Service on deliverables such as application notes and user guides
• Perform root-cause analysis and propose short- and long-term solutions with the development team
• Install or troubleshoot measuring machines and optimize test plans (DoE)
• Maintain use-case parts catalogue and testing tools/scripts/programs
• Collaborate with Product Management and stakeholders to ensure customer perspective is considered
• Deliver technical training on PC-DMIS or other technologies as required
• Travel up to 10% when necessary

Responsibilities

• Degree in metrology, microengineering, software engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or equivalent
• Good knowledge of PC-DMIS/QUINDOS or equivalent and programming (Python)
• Experience integrating new products in dimensional/precision-measurement environments
• Experience as a test engineer in mechanical/electronic/software/optics contexts
• Knowledge of dimensional-measurement standards (ISO 10360)
• Solid experience with CMMs and Hexagon or equivalent systems
• Experience in software testing (unit, regression) is a plus
• Experience using Jira and Confluence; X-ray or TestRail is a plus
• Strong understanding of measurement/metrology and customer needs
• Willingness to travel (<10%), strong communication and teaching skills
• Proficient English; French and German are assets
