About the role

PGS Worldwide is seeking a Real-Time Embedded Software Engineer in Orlando, FL for a one-year contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company.

The Real-Time Embedded Software Engineer will develop C/C++ software for real-time embedded systems and support hands-on Hardware-in-the-Loop testing. This role requires strong Linux, real-time operating environment, simulation systems, and HWIL experience supporting mission-critical aerospace and defense programs.

Required Skills

• 4+ years of relevant embedded software engineering experience.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

• Active Secret clearance required.

• Proficiency in C/C++, including C++11 or higher.

• Proficiency with Linux systems.

• Experience working in a real-time operating environment.

• Previous HWIL experience working with real-time embedded systems.

• Experience with simulation systems.

• Ability to work onsite full-time.

Preferred Skills

• Ada experience.

• Full software development life cycle experience.

• Experience working on cross-discipline or cross-functional teams.

• Git, GitLab, and Jira experience.

• Agile/Scrum experience.

• Experience with embedded systems, real-time software, hardware-in-the-loop testing, simulation environments, Linux development, C/C++ development, missile systems, integration testing, and defense software programs.

What You’ll Do

• Develop real-time embedded software using C/C++.

• Support Hardware-in-the-Loop testing for embedded systems.

• Work with Linux systems and real-time operating environments.

• Support simulation systems used for embedded software development and test.

• Participate in software development, debugging, integration, and verification activities.

• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams.

• Support Agile/Scrum development processes where applicable.

• Use tools such as Git, GitLab, and Jira to support development workflows.

Work Schedule / Shift

• Onsite full-time.

• 1st shift.

• Monday–Thursday.

• 4/10A schedule.
