Rebate Analyst

The Rebate Analyst is responsible for owning and managing the end-to-end customer rebate process, while maintaining compliance with contract terms and accounting standards.

The role is highly analytical and systems-focused, with hands-on ownership of rebate processes within SAP. The analyst reports to the Manager, Financial Reporting and partners closely with Finance including the rebate administrator, Sales, and Commercial Operations teams to ensure rebate accuracy, financial transparency, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Rebate Calculation & Validation

• Calculate and validate monthly and quarterly commercial rebates, ensuring accurate calculation, accrual, reporting, and settlement.
• Interpret and apply contract terms such as tiered rebates, volume-based incentives, and performance rebates.
• Validate customer rebate invoices for accuracy against contract and calculations done in SAP.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies related to pricing, eligibility, volumes, or master data.

Financial Reporting, Accruals & Close

• Prepare monthly rebate accruals and true-ups in accordance with ASPE and accounting policies.
• Support month-end and quarter-end close, including reconciliations between rebate accruals and payments.
• Perform variance analysis between forecasted and actual rebate spend, identifying key drivers.

SAP Rebate Management & Data Integrity

• Set-up and maintain rebate agreements, pricing conditions, and calculation logic within SAP.
• Participate and support maintenance of customer contract master data, in conjunction with Master Data team.
• Partner with cross-functional teams on SAP enhancements, testing, and upgrades related to rebate functionality.

Process Improvement & Controls

• Identify opportunities to improve rebate calculation efficiency, accuracy, and controls within SAP.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to rebate processes, reporting, and automation.
• Create and maintain SOPs and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with internal control frameworks and finance governance standards.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with Finance, Sales, and Commercial Operations to ensure rebate terms are correctly interpreted and operationalized.
• Act as the finance point of contact for customer rebate inquiries and dispute resolution in a professional and timely manner.
• Support external audit by providing rebate calculations, reconciliations, and system documentation.
• Ad-hoc tasks as required.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
• 2-5 years of experience in rebate analysis, pricing, or finance.
• CPA designation is preferred.
• Experience working with ERP systems - SAP is an asset.
• Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with large, complex datasets.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to interpret commercial contract language.
• Experience in pharmaceutical industry is an asset.
