About the Role
The Recruiter is responsible for full-cycle recruiting for tractor-trailer parts and service operations, including technicians, service writers, parts personnel, shop management, and select administrative roles. The ideal candidate has experience recruiting in skilled trades, transportation, heavy equipment, or automotive/trailer service environments and understands the unique challenges of high-demand technician and parts positions.
FULL-CYCLE RECRUITING
- Manage the end-to-end recruiting process for shop-based roles across multiple locations.
- Partner with shop managers and operations leaders through regular on-site visits to understand staffing needs and operational requirements.
- Develop job postings tailored to specific locations and regional labor markets.
SOURCING & TALENT PIPELINE
- Travel to shop locations to support local recruiting efforts, including walk-ins, referrals, and open interviews.
- Proactively source candidates through job boards, technical schools, trade programs, referrals, and community partnerships.
- Build and maintain a service and parts talent pipeline for current and future openings.
INTERVIEWING & SELECTION
- Conduct phone, virtual, and in-person interviews at various shop locations.
- Coordinate interviews with shop leadership and assist with hiring recommendations.
- Ensure timely completion of pre-employment requirements.
HIRING METRICS & REPORTING
- Track hiring activity across locations, including time-to-fill and turnover trends.
- Identify location-specific recruiting challenges and recommend solutions.
- Maintain accurate records in the applicant tracking system.
EMPLOYER BRANDING & COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
- Represent the company at job fairs, trade schools, and community events.
- Support shop-level hiring events and location-specific recruiting campaigns.
- Promote the organization as an employer of choice in the skilled trades market.
COMPLIANCE & BEST PRACTICES
- Ensure recruiting activities comply with federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism throughout the hiring process.
- Support onboarding coordination for new hires at various locations
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field or equivalent practical recruiting experience.
- 2–5 years of recruiting experience, preferably in:
- Skilled trades
- Transportation, trucking, or logistics
- Automotive, diesel, or heavy equipment service environments
- Experience recruiting hourly, high-volume, or technically skilled roles.
- Experience recruiting trailer technicians a plus.
- Multi-location or multi-state recruiting experience (OH, KY, IN).
- Proficiency with ATS platforms and standard recruiting tools.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly to multiple shop locations.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, operations-driven environment.
- Able to communicate effectively both in-person and through written correspondence and presentations with candidates, peers, managers, and leadership.
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and strong organizational skills.
- Utilize crucial skills such as critical thinking, follow-up, and prioritization.
- Effective time management.
- Exhibit strong relationship-building skills and have a positive outlook.
- Protect the organization’s valuable assets by keeping confidential information.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and internet applications.
- Regular, predictable, and full attendance is an essential function of the job.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
- Familiarity with DOT-related roles or safety-sensitive positions.
- Knowledge of retention strategies for shop and technician roles.
