Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Release Engineer to lead enterprise infrastructure modernization initiatives focused on migrating large-scale environments from RHEL 7 to RHEL 9. This role requires deep expertise in Linux platform engineering, CI/CD automation, containerization, security remediation, and software supply chain modernization.
The ideal candidate will play a key role in OS migration, package engineering, Kubernetes orchestration, vulnerability remediation, and automation while working closely with cross-functional infrastructure, DevOps, security, and application teams.
Key Responsibilities:
OS Migration & Package Engineering
- Lead and execute enterprise-wide migration activities from RHEL 7 to RHEL 9.
- Troubleshoot and resolve binary compatibility, library dependency, and package management issues.
- Build, compile, and maintain open-source packages from source using tools such as GCC and Make.
- Manage the complete lifecycle of RPM packages including creation, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
- Ensure seamless migration of enterprise applications and services with minimal downtime.
Containerization & Platform Modernization
- Refactor and migrate legacy Docker-based container workflows to Podman.
- Design, deploy, and maintain Rancher-managed Kubernetes environments.
- Migrate workloads to RHEL 9 Universal Base Images (UBI) and modern container standards.
- Support platform modernization initiatives focused on scalability, automation, and operational efficiency.
Automation & CI/CD Engineering
- Develop and maintain scalable Jenkins CI/CD pipelines using Groovy Shared Libraries.
- Build automation scripts and API integrations using Python for operational efficiency and vulnerability remediation.
- Automate deployment, testing, reporting, and infrastructure management processes.
- Improve software supply chain automation and release management practices.
Security & Vulnerability Management
- Analyze vulnerability scan reports and remediate CVEs across enterprise Linux environments.
- Apply security patches, hardening standards, and compliance best practices.
- Ensure container images, dependencies, and OS builds meet enterprise security requirements.
- Collaborate with security teams to maintain secure and compliant infrastructure standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), including strong exposure to RHEL 9.
- Strong expertise in Linux administration, troubleshooting, and OS migration activities.
- Proficiency in Python scripting and Groovy for automation and Jenkins pipeline development.
- Hands-on experience with Jenkins CI/CD pipelines and DevOps automation.
- Experience with Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, and Rancher container platforms.
- Strong knowledge of RPM package management, source compilation, GCC, Make, and dependency management.
- Experience with vulnerability remediation, CVE patching, and security best practices.
- Hands-on experience with Ansible for infrastructure automation and configuration management.
- Strong understanding of infrastructure modernization and software supply chain security.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with OpenShift or enterprise Kubernetes platforms.
- Knowledge of DevSecOps methodologies and infrastructure security frameworks.
- Experience working in large enterprise or regulated environments.
- Familiarity with GitOps, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and cloud-native practices.
