As a Reliability Engineer at our Horizon Oil Sands site, you will be part of the Reliability Engineering team, playing a key role in delivering optimal availability, reliability, performance of our Upgrader. By leveraging reliability principles to proactively assess condition, asset lifecycle to support safe, reliable operations, the team is responsible for driving sound recommendations to Upgrading and Utilities management teams ensuring we deliver best in class asset performance and uptime.
- Job location: Fort McMurray, Alberta – Horizon Oil Sands Site
- Shift schedule: 4 × 3, 10‑hour shifts (Monday – Thursday)

Key Accountabilities
- Support Canadian Natural’s statement of safe, steady and reliable operations and asset availability.
- Asset management: interface directly with the Value Stream Team daily to communicate asset strategies, communicate risks, manage emerging issues, and long‑range plans for assets.
- Identify and manage asset reliability risks with a focus on reducing/eliminating production losses, maintenance‑repair costs, operational risks and defining long‑range asset plans.
- Provide plant support during outage/shutdown/daily operations.
- Support development and implementation of predictive analytics to enhance/automate predictive maintenance strategies utilizing machine learning tools.
- Guide improvements, define care plans, provide corrective actions and define spare part strategies.
What You Bring To The Role
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or a Technology Diploma from an accredited college or university.
- 5+ years of reliability or maintenance experience in industry, preferably in oil sands extraction and upgrading.
- Proficiency with MS Office. Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and troubleshooting skills.
