Remote Creo Electrical Designer — Lead Product Design
Johnson Controls, Inc.
About the role
What you will do
Johnson Controls is hiring! As a Creo Electrical Designer, you will be responsible for all new product development, product improvement, and sustaining changes to a given product line. You'll have the opportunity to "own" the product line, and help advise on complex design and engineering decisions, maintain schedules to complete large‑scale projects on time, and help delegate work to the supporting design team. Get ready to partner with the Product Design Managers to ensure that initiatives are completed accurately, to the highest standard, and in a time‑effective manner!
- Mentoring and guiding junior employees, as well as implementing process improvements for the team, will be a part of your daily tasks.
- As a CREO user, you’ll be looked to for advice and guidance on value and accuracy improvement measures that will be considered best practice.
- This is a remote opportunity for US‑based candidates.
How you will do it
- Display leadership experience as an individual contributor.
- Perform design tasks with or without engineering data to allow generation of finished drawings by other drafters.
- Assign and manage work within the product area to meet deadlines, while developing product design skills in the team. Guide and mentor other drafter titles in the design of product.
- Maintain contact and understanding with manufacturing engineers from each manufacturing facility to ensure the best design from a manufacturing standpoint.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee design/drafting activities related to general design assignments. Delegate tasks, as appropriate, to provide development opportunities for team members.
- Report on project progress in both written and verbal form for engineering, engineering management, customers, and suppliers.
- Function as a technical member of an engineering project team, engineering change team, or material review board.
- Prepare company standards and procedures.
- Provide recommendations on practices within design specialty to engineers. Create best‑practice documentation, implementing new procedures within design/drafting to streamline the process and decrease design‑to‑market time. Develop global standards with the design process and implement them with other design centers.
- Perform studies to investigate and recommend new CAD and design hardware and software.
- Assist engineers with task‑level engineering duties including, but not limited to, selection of chiller components, weight distributions, airflow calculations, heat‑transfer calculations, and electromechanical systems.
What we look for
Required
- 0 – 3 years of CREO modeling experience specifically with electrical schematic design, 3D harness routing, and connector design.
- Associate’s degree in Mechanical Design, Electrical Design, or, in lieu of a degree, 5–7 years of experience.
- Ability, or desire, to mentor/train.
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly range: $30.00 – $40.00/hr (rate determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, internal equity, and market data).
- Competitive benefits package.
- The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role. Exceptional candidates with unique skills and experiences may be considered beyond the stated range.
