Your Role

As a Hands-On Engineering Manager in the Customer Journey (Growth) team at RoomPriceGenie, you’ll lead a small team of 3 engineers focused on improving how hoteliers discover value in our platform: from activation and onboarding to feature adoption and long-term engagement.

This role is ideal for an early-career Engineering Manager or an exceptional Senior, Staff or Tech Lead engineer ready to step into a formal leadership role.

You’ll guide the team’s execution, support engineers in their growth, and stay technically engaged through code reviews, architectural discussions, pairing and coding contributions.

Working closely with a Product Manager and a Senior Engineering Manager, you’ll translate growth opportunities into product outcomes, helping the team ship experiments, iterate quickly and continuously improve the user journey.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead, coach and support a small multidisciplinary team of engineers working across backend and frontend systems.
  • Drive initiatives that improve user activation, onboarding, feature adoption and retention.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, testing and quality, ensuring features are reliable, scalable and measurable.
  • Help the team deliver experiments and product improvements, from ideation through production and iteration.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship, helping engineers grow in system design, architecture and cross-stack collaboration.
  • Stay technically engaged through code reviews, architectural discussions, pairing and direct coding contributions.
  • Improve engineering processes and team practices to increase clarity, alignment and delivery velocity.
  • Collaborate with Product and Design to ensure solutions are user‑centered and data‑informed.
  • Champion experimentation and measurement, ensuring the team has the right feedback loops to evaluate product impact.

Your Profile

  • Strong experience as a Software Engineer, with a proven track record building and operating production systems.
  • Experience leading engineers or projects (for example as a Tech Lead, Staff Engineer or Engineering Manager).
  • 1–2 years of formal people management experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Exceptional Senior, Staff or Tech Lead engineers with a strong track record of technical leadership and mentorship are encouraged to apply.
  • Comfortable staying technically involved while leading a team.
  • Strong understanding of system design, architecture and engineering best practices.
  • Strong product mindset: you enjoy collaborating closely with Product Managers and Designers to define problems, validate solutions and measure outcomes.
