Our client is looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join their completely remote accounting department. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in processing accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
- Perform bank reconciliations and prepare journal entries.
- Support month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Help maintain the general ledger and ensure its accuracy.
- Assist with preparing financial statements and reports under supervision.
- Process invoices, expense reports, and payment requests.
- Maintain organized financial records and documentation.
- Respond to basic accounting inquiries from internal departments.
- Learn and utilize accounting software and systems effectively.
- Collaborate with team members virtually to achieve departmental goals.
- Follow established accounting principles and company policies.
- Assist in audit preparations and data gathering.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Zero to two years of experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role is preferred.
- Foundational knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively in a remote setting.
- Good written and verbal communication skills for virtual collaboration.
- Eagerness to learn and develop new accounting skills.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Nigeria.
