About the role
Our client is seeking an experienced and innovative Remote Lead Manufacturing Engineer to spearhead process improvement and operational excellence within their manufacturing division. This is a fully remote position, requiring a self-motivated and technically adept individual with a strong background in production environments. The Lead Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for analyzing existing manufacturing processes, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing strategic solutions to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality. This includes designing, developing, and optimizing production lines, machinery, and workflows using lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies. You will lead cross-functional teams in troubleshooting complex production issues, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring the successful implementation of new technologies and equipment. A key aspect of this role involves collaborating with design and R&D teams to ensure manufacturability of new products and providing engineering support throughout the product lifecycle. The successful candidate will also be responsible for developing and maintaining process documentation, standard operating procedures, and training materials for production staff. Strong leadership and project management skills are essential, as you will be guiding projects from conception through to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget. This role demands a forward-thinking approach to manufacturing challenges and a commitment to driving innovation in a remote setting. Responsibilities include: Leading the design, development, and optimization of manufacturing processes and systems. Implementing lean manufacturing techniques and Six Sigma methodologies to improve efficiency and quality. Analyzing production data to identify areas for improvement and cost reduction. Troubleshooting complex manufacturing issues and implementing corrective actions. Collaborating with R&D and design teams to ensure product manufacturability. Managing and executing capital projects related to equipment upgrades and new installations. Developing and updating standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions. Mentoring and guiding junior manufacturing engineers and technical staff. Ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards. Driving continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing operations. Researching and recommending new technologies to enhance production capabilities. Qualifications include: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 8 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, with at least 2 years in a leadership capacity. Proven expertise in process optimization, lean manufacturing, and Six Sigma. Strong understanding of production machinery, automation, and control systems. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills. Proficiency in CAD software and manufacturing simulation tools. Strong leadership and team collaboration abilities. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects remotely.
