WhatJobs Direct is seeking an experienced and visionary Remote Lead Software Architect to drive the design and development of innovative software solutions. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within the US. You will be instrumental in defining our technical strategy, establishing architectural standards, and guiding development teams to build scalable, high‑performance applications. Our ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of software engineering principles, a proven ability to design complex systems, and exceptional leadership qualities. While we are open to candidates across the US, familiarity with the technology landscape around Baltimore, Maryland, US is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Designing and documenting software architecture, selecting appropriate technologies and frameworks, and ensuring the technical integrity of our software products.
• Collaborating closely with product managers, development teams, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
• Providing technical leadership and mentorship to development teams, conducting code reviews, and establishing best practices for coding, testing, and deployment.
• Evaluating emerging technologies and recommending their adoption where appropriate.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in software development, including at least 5 years in a software architect or technical lead role.
• Extensive experience with various programming languages, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), microservices architecture, and database technologies.
• Strong understanding of DevOps principles and agile methodologies.
• Exceptional communication, problem‑solving, and interpersonal skills for leading remote teams and collaborating effectively with diverse stakeholders.
