Remote Mechanical Engineer - Product Design

Our client is a leading innovator in consumer electronics and is seeking a highly creative and skilled Remote Mechanical Engineer to join their product design team. This is a fully remote position where you will contribute to the conceptualization, design, and development of cutting-edge mechanical systems and components for new products. Your responsibilities will include 3D CAD modeling, performing finite element analysis (FEA), conducting stress and thermal simulations, and collaborating with manufacturing and electrical engineering teams to ensure manufacturability and integration. The ideal candidate possesses a strong foundation in mechanical design principles, extensive experience with CAD/CAE software, and a passion for bringing innovative product ideas to life. You will be instrumental in iterating on designs, troubleshooting technical challenges, and ensuring that products meet stringent performance, reliability, and aesthetic requirements.

Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, and test mechanical components and systems for new product development. Create detailed 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings using industry-standard software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo). Perform FEA, stress analysis, thermal analysis, and other simulations to validate designs. Collaborate with electrical engineers to integrate mechanical and electronic components seamlessly. Work closely with manufacturing partners to ensure designs are optimized for production (DFM/DFA). Develop prototypes and conduct rigorous testing to verify performance and reliability. Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical design issues throughout the product development lifecycle. Contribute to product requirements definition and design reviews. Maintain comprehensive design documentation and create Bills of Materials (BOMs). Stay current with advancements in materials science, manufacturing processes, and mechanical engineering technologies. Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. 5+ years of progressive experience in mechanical product design and development. Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo) and CAE tools (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL). Experience with various manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication). Strong understanding of material properties, mechanics of materials, and thermodynamics. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills. Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a remote team environment. Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly. Experience in consumer electronics product design is highly desirable. A portfolio showcasing successful product designs and development projects.
