About the role
Our client, a rapidly expanding telecommunications provider, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Remote Network Security Engineer to join their dynamic team. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute to critical security infrastructure from anywhere. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust security measures to protect the company's network and data assets. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of network protocols, cybersecurity threats, and best practices for securing complex network environments.
Responsibilities: Design, implement, and manage security solutions across the telecommunications network, including firewalls, Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems (IDPS), VPNs, and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems. Monitor network traffic for security breaches and anomalies, and respond to security incidents in a timely and effective manner. Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and remediate security weaknesses. Develop and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures to ensure compliance with industry regulations and best practices. Collaborate with network operations and IT teams to ensure the security of network infrastructure and systems. Stay up-to-date with the latest cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies, and recommend proactive measures. Develop and maintain incident response plans and conduct regular drills. Manage security aspects of network device configurations, including routers, switches, and firewalls. Perform security audits and ensure compliance with relevant security standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST). Provide technical guidance and support to other teams on security-related matters. Analyze security logs and alerts to identify potential threats and policy violations. Contribute to the development and maintenance of security documentation, including network diagrams and operational procedures. Participate in security architecture reviews and contribute to the design of new network infrastructure. Champion security awareness and best practices throughout the organization. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in network security engineering or a similar role. Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing protocols, network segmentation, and cybersecurity principles. Hands-on experience with firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto, Cisco ASA), IDPS, VPN technologies, and SIEM platforms. Proficiency in network security tools and techniques for vulnerability assessment and penetration testing. Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation is a plus. Relevant security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CCNP Security, CEH) are highly desirable. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Strong communication and collaboration abilities, with the capacity to work effectively in a remote team environment. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively. Experience in the telecommunications industry is a significant advantage.
