About the role
WhatJobs Direct is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Remote Senior Automotive Embedded Systems Engineer to design, develop, and implement complex embedded software for cutting-edge automotive systems. This fully remote role allows you to contribute to the future of mobility from anywhere, working with a forward-thinking team. You will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of embedded software development, from requirements gathering and system design to coding, testing, and validation. A deep understanding of real-time operating systems (RTOS), microcontrollers, and automotive communication protocols (e.g., CAN, LIN, Ethernet) is essential.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in C/C++ programming for embedded systems, coupled with expertise in software architecture, debugging, and performance optimization. You will work closely with hardware engineers, system architects, and other software developers to integrate embedded solutions into vehicle platforms, focusing on areas such as powertrain control, infotainment systems, advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), or body electronics. Responsibilities include defining software requirements, developing robust and efficient code, performing unit and integration testing, and participating in code reviews. Experience with AUTOSAR, model-based design (e.g., Simulink), and safety-critical systems development (e.g., ISO 26262) is highly desirable. You will play a key role in troubleshooting complex issues, ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of automotive electronic systems. This role requires excellent analytical problem-solving skills, a proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical challenges, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a distributed team environment. This is a prime opportunity for a talented embedded engineer to drive innovation in the automotive sector remotely.
Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Minimum of 7 years of experience in automotive embedded systems development. Proficiency in C/C++ programming for embedded environments. Strong understanding of RTOS, microcontrollers, and automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet). Experience with AUTOSAR or similar automotive software architectures. Familiarity with model-based design and simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink). Knowledge of software development processes and tools (e.g., Git, Jenkins). Experience with functional safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262) is a strong asset. Excellent debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Strong communication and collaboration abilities for remote teamwork.
