Remote Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Our client, a global leader in innovative engineering solutions, is seeking a highly talented and experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their fully remote team. This position offers the flexibility to work from anywhere, focusing on designing and developing cutting-edge mechanical systems and components for a wide range of applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in CAD software, FEA analysis, and a deep understanding of material science and manufacturing processes. You will be instrumental in taking concepts from initial design through to prototyping and production, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams in a virtual environment.

Key Responsibilities: Conceptualize, design, and develop complex mechanical systems and components using advanced CAD software. Perform detailed engineering analysis, including Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), to validate designs. Create detailed drawings, specifications, and Bill of Materials (BOMs) for manufacturing. Collaborate effectively with product managers, electrical engineers, software developers, and manufacturing teams in a remote setting. Oversee prototyping, testing, and validation of mechanical designs to ensure performance and reliability. Troubleshoot design issues and implement solutions throughout the product lifecycle. Research and evaluate new materials, technologies, and manufacturing processes to enhance product performance and cost-effectiveness. Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and customer requirements. Contribute to design reviews and provide technical guidance to junior engineers. Maintain comprehensive documentation of design processes and decisions. Actively participate in virtual team meetings and project discussions. Qualifications: Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in mechanical design engineering. Expert proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, Inventor) and FEA/CFD tools. Strong understanding of material properties, manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, injection molding, additive manufacturing), and design for manufacturability (DFM). Proven ability to manage design projects from concept to production. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills. Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with a demonstrated ability to thrive in a remote work environment. Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage time effectively to meet deadlines. Experience with scripting languages for automation is a plus. Familiarity with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems. Ability to work independently and as part of a distributed team, contributing to projects affecting various global locations.
