Remote Senior Mining Data Analyst

Key responsibilities include creating comprehensive reports and dashboards using data visualization tools, identifying key performance indicators (KPIs), and proactively recommending strategies for improvement. This role demands a deep understanding of mining processes, robust analytical capabilities, and excellent communication skills to translate complex data findings into clear, concise recommendations for non-technical stakeholders. You will work closely with geologists, engineers, and operations managers to define data requirements and ensure the integrity and accuracy of all analyses. Responsibilities: Analyze large, complex datasets from various mining operations (geology, production, safety, equipment maintenance, environmental). Develop and apply statistical models and machine learning techniques to identify patterns, predict trends, and optimize operations. Design, build, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) for various stakeholders. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data needs, collect relevant information, and ensure data quality. Provide data-driven recommendations for improving operational efficiency, resource utilization, safety protocols, and cost reduction. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in data analytics, data science, and their applications within the mining sector. Communicate complex analytical findings clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences. Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation in data collection and analysis. Ensure data governance and compliance with relevant regulations. Proactively identify and address data-related challenges within remote operational environments. Qualifications: Master's degree or PhD in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mining Engineering, or a related quantitative field. Minimum of 7 years of experience in data analysis, with a significant portion focused on the mining or natural resources industry. Proven expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning, and predictive analytics. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and SQL for data manipulation and analysis. Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Qlik Sense). Strong understanding of mining operations, geological data, and related processes. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively in a remote setting. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information concisely. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
