About the role

Our client, a highly respected international non-profit organization, is seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Program Manager to lead and expand its global development initiatives. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to make a significant impact from anywhere in the world. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation of complex programs aimed at driving positive social change and sustainable development. You will work collaboratively with field teams, partners, donors, and beneficiaries to ensure program effectiveness, impact, and accountability.

Responsibilities: Lead the design, development, and implementation of strategic global development programs in alignment with the organization's mission and goals. Manage all phases of the program lifecycle, from needs assessment and proposal development to project execution, monitoring, and reporting. Develop and manage program budgets, ensuring efficient resource allocation and financial accountability. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with international partners, government agencies, local communities, and donors. Oversee grant management, including proposal writing, reporting requirements, and compliance with donor regulations. Develop and implement robust monitoring and evaluation (M&E) frameworks to track program progress, measure impact, and identify lessons learned. Conduct field assessments and provide on-the-ground support to program teams as needed. Ensure adherence to ethical standards, best practices, and the principles of humanitarian aid and development. Represent the organization at relevant international forums, conferences, and stakeholder meetings. Supervise and mentor program staff and local implementing partners, fostering a culture of collaboration and high performance. Contribute to organizational learning by documenting best practices, challenges, and innovative approaches. Stay informed about global development trends, challenges, and emerging opportunities. Qualifications: Master's degree in International Development, Public Policy, Social Sciences, or a related field. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in program management within the international development or non-profit sector. Proven track record of successfully managing complex, multi-country development programs, preferably in areas such as poverty reduction, health, education, or sustainable livelihoods. In-depth understanding of program design, logical frameworks, M&E methodologies, and grant management. Strong experience with donor relations and fundraising, including proposal development for major international donors (e.g., USAID, EU, UN agencies). Exceptional leadership, communication, interpersonal, and cross-cultural collaboration skills. Proven ability to work independently, manage diverse projects, and thrive in a remote team environment. Proficiency in project management tools and software. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Commitment to social justice, human rights, and sustainable development principles. Fluency in English is required; knowledge of other languages relevant to program regions is a significant advantage. This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to lead impactful global development work from Cape Town, Western Cape, ZA (or any remote location).
