Remote Senior Software Architect - Cloud Solutions

Our client is seeking a visionary Remote Senior Software Architect to lead the design and development of cutting-edge cloud-based solutions. This is a fully remote position, offering the opportunity to work from anywhere within South Africa. You will be instrumental in defining the technical strategy, architecture, and standards for our next generation of products, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.

Your responsibilities will include designing high-level software structures, selecting appropriate technologies and frameworks, and guiding development teams through the implementation process. You will collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust technical designs. This role requires a deep understanding of microservices architecture, distributed systems, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP). You will also be responsible for establishing best practices for coding, testing, and deployment, and mentoring junior architects and developers.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. A minimum of 10 years of experience in software development, with at least 5 years in a software architecture role, is essential. Proven experience in designing and implementing complex, scalable, and secure cloud-native applications is a must. Strong proficiency in multiple programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, Go, C#) and a thorough understanding of database technologies (SQL and NoSQL) are required. Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills are critical for this remote-first role. You must be self-motivated, able to work independently, and adept at managing your time effectively in a distributed team environment.
