Our client, a leading telecommunications provider, is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Telecom Network Security Engineer to join their expanding remote team. This role is critical in safeguarding our vast network infrastructure against evolving cyber threats, ensuring the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of our services for customers in and around Minna, Niger, NG. As a remote employee, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust security solutions across our core and access networks. You will work proactively to identify vulnerabilities, respond to security incidents, and develop strategies to mitigate risks. This position requires a deep understanding of telecommunications protocols, network architecture, and cybersecurity best practices.
Responsibilities
- Designing, implementing, and managing network security infrastructure, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDPS), VPNs, and other security appliances.
- Conducting regular security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration testing to identify and address potential weaknesses in the network.
- Developing and enforcing security policies, standards, and procedures to ensure compliance with industry regulations and best practices.
- Monitoring network traffic and security logs for suspicious activities, and responding promptly to security incidents and breaches.
- Investigating security breaches, performing root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Staying up-to-date with the latest cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation techniques relevant to the telecommunications sector.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including network operations, engineering, and IT, to integrate security measures into network designs and operations.
- Developing and delivering security awareness training to employees.
- Managing security aspects of network upgrades, deployments, and configuration changes.
- Contributing to the development and maintenance of disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field, along with significant experience in network security, preferably within the telecommunications industry.
- Professional certifications such as CISSP, CCNP Security, or GIAC are highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols, network security technologies (e.g., MPLS, BGP, IPv6), and various operating systems is essential.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are required for this remote role.
- Must be adept at working independently, managing your time effectively, and collaborating within a distributed team environment.
