Our client is seeking a resilient, analytical and decisive individual to conduct in‑depth business analysis and internal audits across retail operations, identifying inefficiencies, irregularities and areas of risk, while providing practical, commercially sound solutions to enhance profitability and sustainability. This role is ideally suited to an individual with experience within small to medium‑sized businesses, as opposed to large corporates, who is comfortable operating hands‑on and interrogating operational and financial data at a granular level.
Minimum Requirements
- Proven experience in a retail environment, preferably within smaller or owner‑managed businesses
- Strong financial acumen with the ability to interpret and interrogate data independently
- Practical understanding of stock control, margin management and operational efficiencies
- High level of integrity, objectivity and attention to detail
- Assertive, resilient and comfortable addressing sensitive findings
- Valid driver’s licence (role requires travel to retail stores across the Eastern Cape, with occasional travel to other regions as required)
- A factual, solutions‑driven professional who is commercially minded, confident in challenging the status quo, and capable of adding tangible value through accurate analysis and decisive action
Key Performance Areas
- Conduct detailed financial and operational audits within retail stores
- Analyse and evaluate slow‑moving and obsolete stock
- Assess product costings and gross profit margins
- Review overhead structures and expense management
- Evaluate return on investment (ROI) across diverse retail business stores
- Identify financial, operational and compliance risks
- Investigate discrepancies and recommend corrective action
- Engage directly with management to provide feedback and support implementation of improvements
