Technical Solutions Engineer (RF)
Responsibilities
- Assist with occasional research, design and testing of radio frequency-based products including low-band UHF technology (420-470 MHz) and two-way radio solutions developed by the company
- Assist Technical Manager with new software and hardware products to be operationally assessed using tools, as part of technical sign-off.
- Help deliver reliable, high-performance wireless systems, working closely with project and engineering colleagues to ensure every system meets top-tier industry standards.
- Assist with the creation, delivery and control of technical documentation and procedures.
- Lead liaison between Technical and small Production team ensuring successful integration of technical improvements, new products and programming updates.
- Be the first point of contact for changes in system build or configuration, introduction of new products via hands-on training and technical quality assurance etc. Perform regular assessments to ensure quality control / assurance standards are met.
- Monitor the technical skillset and knowledge retention of the Production Technicians and Engineers, defining and delivering training to improve technical understanding.
- Acting technical liaison to assist relevant ISO processes and investigate non-conformance issues. Answer technical queries and remote assist Field Engineers where required.
- Product training to colleagues who deliver client installation and support (one day a month).
- Attend client, supplier and team meetings on or off site where required. Occasional travel with engineers to client sites to assist complex site surveys or installations.
Candidate Criteria
- At least four years in a similar role, with at least two years in a supervisory position.
- Electronics Engineering or similar education and proven UK work experience.
- Knowledge of RF-based technology such as paging & two-way radio is advantageous. Knowledge of IT hardware (routers), Windows software and networking is preferred.
- Programming languages for software applications (ideally C#, Java, Python).
- Experienced in workflow process and best practice for our ISO-certified environment.
- Strong background in RF, comfortable carrying out hands-on work, enjoys occasional client-facing meetings and surveys / installations and wants to help colleagues succeed in delivering solutions.
- Proven practical RF testing and occasional design across low-band UHF range. Conversant with simple manufacturing techniques including design for manufacture test.
- Good practical skills including soldering, fault-finding and the use of RF test equipment. Good knowledge of RF digital / analogue and power supply / antennae distribution (on-site).
- Strong communicator with excellent email, report and tech report writing skills and the ability to communicate clearly any problems, solutions or results to various stakeholders.

£45,000.00-£60,000.00 per year
