Responsibilities
The Senior RF Design Engineer will develop, design, model, and test radio frequency transmitters and receiver circuit subsystems in the 700 MHz – 10 GHz range, guiding products from concept phase to production release. The role also includes proactively investigating, learning, and implementing Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions to innovate engineering processes and drive significant gains in efficiency.
- Establish requirements for moderately complex RF design projects
- Complete all phases of moderately complex RF design projects including system design, cascade and link budget analysis, circuit design, simulation, schematic, layout, and RF validation
- Proactively research, evaluate, and implement emerging AI and Machine Learning techniques to continuously improve RF design, testing, and system optimization processes
- Perform RF analysis and simulation for design, optimization, and debug
- Drive and/or support customer and cross‑functional issue debugging for system level issues
- Drive EMI/EMC troubleshooting and validation
- Work with internal cross‑functional teams and external Joint‑Development‑Partners to successfully bring handheld products to market
- Drive RF lab capability development and collaborate with the lab team on test strategy and new technology capability
- Work with the antenna team on system requirements, design, validation, and debug
- Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, software, and system test engineering to develop system design, test plans, and issue debug
- Apply existing technology in new ways to improve performance and productivity
- Consider latest technologies and new approaches to improve designs and their implementation
- Review changes or upgrades to existing applications
- Develop new technology to solve unique problems
- May develop new tools and processes to aid in the analysis and solving of problems as well as improve efficiency
- Prioritize quality and seek continual improvements in all aspects of RF projects
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of experience
- Experienced board‑level RF circuit designer, skilled in RF circuit tuning, troubleshooting, and testing
- Familiar with VNA, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and RF power meters
Preferred Qualifications
- RF design experience in the 450 MHz to 10 GHz range
- Experience with 5G WAN and/or Wi‑Fi 6/7; GPS, BLE, RFID, or UWB is a plus
- Knowledge of RF aspects of a complete mobile product development lifecycle
- RF design for FCC, ETSI, and 3GPP compliance with recent success cases
- Hands‑on RF circuit and system testing experience including both cabled and radiated methods
- Noise / RF interference mitigation and troubleshooting expertise
- RF system integration (radio/antenna) optimization and debugging skills
- Project management experience for RF / radio development and system integration
- Experience with ADS, CST, and Cadence design tools
Compensation
Range $90,960.00 – $136,440.00 Annual
In addition to base pay, Zebra offers this role the opportunity to earn a performance‑based annual cash incentive, at a target equal to 10% of base pay, in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
