Our client is a well-established organisation with a strong focus on governance, control, and operational excellence. Risk management is embedded as a key enabler of business performance, ensuring informed decision-making and effective oversight across all areas of the organisation.

They are seeking an experienced Risk Specialist to join their team on a 6-month contract, with a strong possibility of permanency. This is a hands-on opportunity for a professional who can contribute immediately, strengthen risk processes, and provide meaningful insights that support business decision-making.

In this role, you will work closely with business units to enhance risk identification, assessment, monitoring, and reporting, while supporting the continued development of the Enterprise Risk Management framework. You will act as a key point of contact for risk-related matters, ensuring that risks are appropriately tracked, escalated, and mitigated in line with organisational standards and objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct risk assessments across business units and identify key risk exposures
  • Maintain and update risk registers to ensure accuracy and relevance
  • Analyse risk trends, incidents, and data to generate actionable insights
  • Compile and present monthly risk reports to stakeholders
  • Provide advisory support to business units on risk mitigation strategies
  • Track risk actions, monitor progress, and ensure timely resolution
  • Support the implementation and enhancement of ERM frameworks and policies

Job experience and skills required

Qualifications

  • Matric (Grade 12) essential
  • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Law, or related field
  • Postgraduate qualification will be advantageous
  • Professional certifications such as IRMSA, CIA, CISA, or CFA (advantageous)
  • IRMSA membership preferred

Experience

  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in Risk Management
  • Strong understanding of enterprise risk frameworks and governance principles
  • Experience in structured or regulated environments advantageous
  • Strong stakeholder engagement experience
  • Ability to operate across both operational and strategic risk functions
