About the role

Position Overview

The Robotics Technician will build, install, maintain, and troubleshoot robotic equipment and automated production systems. This role involves mechanical, electrical, and software aspects of robotics, including programming, preventive maintenance, and system optimization. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience with industrial robots, automated production systems, and manufacturing environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot robotic systems using knowledge of microprocessors, PLCs, electronics, mechanics, sensors, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Diagnose causes of operational problems or failures.
  • Disassemble, reassemble, and repair robots or peripheral equipment (circuit boards, sensors, encoders, servomotors).
  • Assemble, install, and maintain robotic equipment and automated production systems.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on robotic systems or components.
  • Maintain operational and service records for robotic equipment.
  • Program robots and programmable controllers, including vision systems and end‑of‑arm tools.
  • Develop robotic path motions for efficiency, safety, and quality.
  • Modify computer‑controlled robot movements to optimize production processes.
  • Document design, test procedures, and results for robotic systems.
  • Assist engineers with design, configuration, and application of robotic systems.
  • Conduct site inspections and install new robotic systems.
  • Fabricate housings, jigs, fittings, and fixtures using machine tools.
  • Develop 3D simulations and graphical representations of automated production systems.
  • Maintain inventories of sensors, cables, materials, and equipment.
  • Train personnel on robot operation, maintenance, and safety procedures.
  • Collaborate with engineering to improve current and future robotic systems.
  • Execute other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Robotics, Automation, or a related field.
  • 1–5 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing or automation environment.
  • Proficiency in robotics programming, PLCs, and automated production systems.
  • Experience with technical documentation and technical writing.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and control systems; ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and assembly drawings.
  • Software/Programming knowledge; ERP software experience preferred.
  • Solid understanding of automated manufacturing principles, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma preferred.
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software; SolidWorks experience preferred.
  • Advanced mathematics skills.
  • Strong organizational, attention‑to‑detail, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and understand equipment manuals, Safety Data Sheets, and operational instructions.
