This is a 3-month contract (fiscal year end) with 3 possible extensions.

The role is onsite at 40 St. Claire W, Toronto.

The position is within the Land & Resources Cluster - Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement.

The resource may be partially assigned to Bill 5 related projects or initiatives as needed.

The Ceres application was launched in February 2023 for ministry users to improve management of plant health data and enable timely access to critical information, as well as efficient identification of pest threats.

The requirement is to ensure the CERES application is continuously available while enabling implementation of bug fixes, issue resolution, or minor improvements based on user feedback.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to and resolve any issues reported on the application and ensure continuous availability for use
  • Identify and prioritize technical upgrades to keep the platform up to date, including upgrades to technology stack components
  • Implement bug fixes and improvements regarding application functionality

Must Have

  • 7+ years full-stack developer experience with MERN (MongoDB, Express, React, Node.js) technology stack
  • 4+ years developing and documenting build books for managing build and deployment of application releases
  • Technical documentation skills to ensure proper knowledge transfer
  • Experience designing and delivering solutions incorporating Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA)
  • Experience working in an Agile software delivery environment
  • Knowledge of IT security best practices and protocols (OAuth 2, SAML)

Desirable Skills / Nice-to-Have

  • Experience building and deploying cloud native solutions, ideally in Azure
  • Experience working on Agricultural data collection and analysis applications
  • Familiarity with relevant Government of Ontario Information and Technology Standards (GO-ITS)
  • Experience in source control, DevOps, CI/CD, and related tools (Azure DevOps, Git)
