About

The administration of the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics (MPE), the Max Planck Institute for Astrophysics (MPA), and the Max Planck Computing and Data Facility (MPCDF) is a central service facility and supports around 650 institute members. The joint administration is organizationally assigned to the MPE at the Garching site near Munich. MPE and MPA are world leaders in astrophysics, and MPCDF supports the Max Planck Institutes nationwide in high-performance computing, application development, and data management.

We are looking for a full-time or part-time Accounting Clerk – "All-rounder" (f/m/d) as soon as possible, initially for a fixed term of two years.

Responsibilities

• Independent processing of financial accounting (accounts receivable, accounts payable, and fixed assets accounting)
• Checking, posting, and booking of invoices
• Participation in monthly and annual financial statements
• Execution and further development of MPG-specific cost and performance accounting (KLR)
• Support in the preparation of financial reports and analyses
• Representation in the area of operational and contractual matters
• Communication with internal specialist departments and external partners
• Optimization and further development of accounting and administrative processes

Qualifications

• You have completed commercial training or a comparable qualification, ideally with a focus on accounting/finance
• Several years of professional experience in accounting, ideally with knowledge in cost and performance accounting or controlling
• Proficient use of accounting software (e.g., SAP) and very good Microsoft Excel skills
• Structured, careful, and independent way of working
• Strong affinity for numbers and analytical thinking skills
• Flexibility and willingness to familiarize yourself with subject areas outside your own field
• Good German and English skills, both written and spoken
• You value teamwork, contribute actively, and communicate clearly and reliably
• You are dependable and can keep track of multiple topics
