Document Control Specialist / Master Data Specialist

Job Summary

We are seeking a Document Control Specialist / Master Data Specialist to support master data management, document control, and system maintenance activities for the Electrification Smart Power (ELSP) business unit in Richmond, VA.

This role is responsible for maintaining accurate and reliable master data across business systems, supporting BOM creation, ensuring compliance with data standards, and improving business processes through data governance and analytics.

Reporting To: Product Engineering Manager

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related technical/STEM field
• 3+ years of experience in operations, document control, or master data management environments
• 3+ years of experience in a related Master Data Specialist or similar role
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Self-motivated with excellent communication and collaboration abilities
• Ability to drive process improvements and adapt quickly to business changes

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong SAP experience required/preferred
• Experience with PLM systems such as Windchill preferred
• Knowledge of master data management processes, quality systems, and data governance
• Microsoft 365 proficiency
• Experience with Power BI or similar reporting/analytics tools preferred

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and manage master data accurately across all relevant business systems
• Support creation, updates, maintenance, archival, and deletion of master data records
• Ensure compliance with internal data policies, quality standards, and ISO requirements
• Document, review, and update procedures related to system maintenance and data processes
• Support creation and maintenance of Bills of Materials (BOMs) in SAP
• Verify integration and communication between SAP and engineering/BOM software
• Support product and process engineering master data requirements
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish proper master data parameters for:
  • Cost control
  • Planning
  • Forecasting
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and non-conformance resolution
• Provide support, training, and guidance to other master data users or specialists
• Respond to ad hoc stakeholder requests and operational support needs
• Identify process bottlenecks and recommend data/process improvements
• Develop or support analytical reporting using Power BI dashboards and related tools
• Support continuous improvement initiatives involving SAP and PLM enhancements
