Overview
Leading biotechnology company in the Rockville, MD area is seeking a Scientist I to support Product Characterization within Analytical Sciences. This is a hands-on laboratory role focused on LC-MS and chromatography-based testing supporting biologics programs. Responsibilities
- Perform analytical sample testing using LC-MS, HPLC/UPLC, and electrophoresis-based method
- Prepare samples and solvents for chromatography following SOPs
- Execute assays requiring mass spectrometry and liquid chromatography
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot analytical instruments
- Accurately document experimental data using electronic lab notebooks
- Analyze and interpret chromatography and analytical data
- Support internal and external project testing
- Escalate technical issues and assist with troubleshooting and resolution
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related life sciences
- 2+ years of relevant laboratory experience (industry or academic)
- Hands-on experience with LC-MS and/or HPLC/UPLC assays (biologics preferred)
- Experience with sample preparation and solvent preparation for LC systems
- Proficiency with lab equipment including pipettes, analytical balances, and standard glassware
- Experience with data recording and analysis using electronic lab notebooks
- Ability to follow SOPs and execute experiments with minimal oversight
- Strong attention to detail, documentation, and communication skills
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer
