Scrum Master (Senior) (2 positions)
Position Description
Leads Agile process for one or more Scrum Teams to ensure delivery and releases are within scope.
Responsible for the ongoing development of the team and continued improvement of the development process, product quality, and quantity of work delivered. Guides and coaches the Scrum Team.
- Facilitate daily scrum, sprint planning, sprint demo, and retrospective meetings
- Plan and assist with the implementation of Scrum frameworks and Agile principles
- Ensure the team adheres to Scrum theory, practices, and rules
- Help the team avoid or navigate roadblocks and interferences that may hinder project progress
- Facilitate discussions, decision making, and conflict resolution among the team members
- Work with the Product Owner, especially on backlog grooming and maintaining the product backlog
- Monitor project progress and performance, and report findings to stakeholders
- Assess the Scrum maturity of the team and organization, and coach them to higher levels of maturity
- Ensure a conducive environment for the team, enabling members to work efficiently and effectively
Education
This position requires a Bachelor s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in a related field. A Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or SAFe Agile (SSM) certification is preferred.
Prior Experience Supporting Maryland Benefits Is Also Beneficial.
General Experience
The proposed candidate must have at least seven (7) years of relevant experience. Scrum Master certification is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Scrum Master in a software development team
- Strong knowledge of Scrum theory, rules, and practices
- Familiarity with software development
- Knowledge of other Agile approaches such as Kanban, Lean, etc.
- Excellent leadership and mentoring skills
- Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution ability
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills
Specialized Experience
- Experience with Agile Scrum, SAFe methodology, and tools such as VersionOne and Jira for tracking
- Exceptional knowledge of Scrum methodologies and Agile principles to implement them effectively within the team
- Strong leadership skills to guide the team towards the goal and to resolve conflicts or impediments that can affect the project s progress
- Excellent communication skills to facilitate transparent and open dialogue between team members and stakeholders. This also includes active listening skills to understand and act on team needs
- Organizational skills to manage various aspects of the project simultaneously, including planning sprints, conducting daily stand-ups, and overseeing retrospectives
- Strong coaching skills to support team growth and continuous improvement
