About the role

About the role

As a Senior Data Security Engineer, you will protect the security and integrity of Tapestry's data throughout its entire lifecycle. You will partner closely with our Data Engineering teams to implement technical guardrails within our GCP environments and energy-specific data pipelines. Your work ensures that as we reshape the global energy landscape, we maintain the highest standards of data protection, privacy, and system integrity.

You will play a key role in shaping secure-by-design data systems that support innovation across a regulated and high-impact environment.

How you will make 10X Impact:

  • Engineer and scale technical guardrails for data protection, including encryption-at-rest/transit and cryptographic key management.
  • Partner with Data Engineering to design and implement secure data pipelines, focusing on data masking and integrity checks.
  • Deploy and manage security tooling for data classification, mapping, and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) across the stack.
  • Interface with Legal and Product teams to refine requirements for data retention, destruction, and privacy-by-design.
  • Develop automated monitoring and access controls to ensure least-privilege principles for all Energy Sector data sets.

What you should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in security engineering with a specialization in Data Security or Privacy Engineering.
  • Experience with large-scale data processing and modeling in cloud-native environments (GCP preferred).
  • Proficiency in scripting or automation (Python, SQL, or Go) for data security automation and analysis.
  • Strong grasp of foundational computer science concepts to optimize the performance of security controls within data-heavy applications.

It'd be great if you also had one or more of these:

  • Working knowledge of power systems or electric grid data technologies.
  • Experience with GCP data services (BigQuery, Spanner, Cloud Storage) and IAM governance.
  • Knowledge of enterprise security architectures and compliance standards for regulated data.
  • Experience with RDF or graph database security.

  • Always fine-tune: We stay curious, seek feedback, and refine our understanding as we learn.
