Security Operations Analyst 3 (Senior-level)

About the Position

Navancio LLC is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Security Operations Analyst 3 (Senior) to support a federal customer at the National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC) in Washington, DC. This role is responsible for daily cybersecurity monitoring, threat analysis, and incident handling to support the organization’s overall security posture.

This position operates within a small, collaborative contractor team supporting a federal environment of approximately 150 users. The Security Operations Analyst plays a key role in maintaining continuous monitoring activities, analyzing security events, and supporting compliance with federal cybersecurity standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor security events and alerts across enterprise systems, including SIEM, EDR, NDR, and cloud environments.
• Analyze logs and security data to identify suspicious activity, anomalies, and potential threats.
• Investigate and respond to security incidents, including triage, analysis, containment, and documentation.
• Support continuous monitoring efforts in alignment with federal cybersecurity requirements and CDM program objectives.
• Develop, tune, and maintain alerting rules and detection logic to improve visibility and reduce false positives.
• Document incidents, findings, and response actions in accordance with established procedures.
• Generate reports and provide analysis to support security operations and compliance activities.
• Collaborate with the Cybersecurity Engineer and federal stakeholders on incident response and remediation efforts.
• Assist in maintaining and improving security processes, procedures, and monitoring capabilities.
• Ensure adherence to NIST, FISMA, and CISA cybersecurity standards and guidelines.

Required Qualifications

• 6+ years of continuous experience in cybersecurity analysis, monitoring, or security operations roles.
• Hands-on experience with security monitoring tools, including SIEM, EDR, NDR, and related platforms.
• Strong experience with log analysis, threat detection, and incident response.
• Familiarity with federal cybersecurity frameworks and compliance requirements (NIST, FISMA, CISA).
• Experience supporting continuous monitoring programs, including CDM.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a federal environment.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain Public Trust clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Relevant certifications (e.g., Security+, CISSP, or similar).
• Experience working in small-team federal environments.
• Familiarity with scripting or automation (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
• Experience with reporting, dashboards, and security metrics.
• Knowledge of modern cybersecurity practices, including Zero Trust concepts.

Work Environment

• On-site position at NIGC Headquarters in Washington, DC.
• Full-time schedule, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
• Small, four-person contractor team supporting a federal agency environment (~150 users).
• Role operates with minimal supervision and strong individual responsibility.
