Security Operations Analyst (Senior)

About Assurit

Assurit is seeking a Senior Security Operations Analyst to support continuous monitoring, threat detection, and incident response for a federal cybersecurity program.

Location: Washington, DC (Onsite; limited remote flexibility)

Responsibilities

• Perform security analysis activities in accordance with established standards
• Monitor systems for threats, vulnerabilities, and suspicious activity
• Analyze logs and alerts from security tools
• Develop and execute daily security monitoring checklists
• Conduct proactive threat hunting and continuous monitoring
• Evaluate and improve security operations processes
• Develop detection and response configurations for improved alerting and automation
• Execute incident response activities per defined plans
• Develop and maintain incident handling procedures
• Ensure proper log retention for investigations
• Generate security reports, metrics, and threat intelligence outputs

Required Qualifications

• 6+ years of cybersecurity / SOC / threat analysis experience
• Experience with SIEM tools and log analysis
• Strong understanding of incident response and monitoring practices
• Familiarity with federal cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, FISMA)

Preferred Certifications

• Security+, CySA+, GCIH, GCIA, or equivalent
• CISSP (preferred for senior-level candidates)
