About the role

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Senior Account Executive for Global Business Solutions plays a critical role in forging senior-level relationships with leading enterprise companies and closing new business opportunities in our extensive suite of climate and renewable energy offerings. These offerings encompass renewable energy certificates (RECs), RNG certificates, carbon credits, greenhouse gas (GHG) strategy consulting, renewable energy procurement advisory services (PPAs and VPPAs), and other vital climate mitigation services. The role involves managing the complete sales opportunity cycle—ranging from cold outreach and attending conferences to engaging prospects, clarifying their requirements, building compelling business cases, and negotiating contracts.

This position reports directly to the Senior Director of North America. Candidates are granted the flexibility to work voluntarily in a hybrid model at our office hubs located in San Francisco, CA; Portland, ME; or New York, NY. We also strongly encourage exceptional remote candidates from across the US to apply. Periodic travel may be needed for training, team events, and client meetings, averaging 10% to 15% travel time.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and execute a sales strategy tailored for your market, focusing on identifying, qualifying, and prioritizing sales opportunities using internal and external resources.
  • Generate leads through proactive prospecting, networking, and attending key regional or national conferences (approximately 10% - 15% travel expected).
  • Engage with prospects to understand their needs and provide education on our product offerings that best suit their objectives.
  • Oversee a complex sales cycle from prospect identification to contract finalization, ensuring precise communication and documentation.
  • Enhance and maintain relationships with existing accounts, fostering loyalty through excellent service and timely follow-through.
  • Collaborate effectively across various internal teams to ensure outstanding service delivery.
  • Deliver precise sales forecasts and maintain activity tracking through Salesforce.
  • Contribute to ongoing improvements by providing insights on product offerings, marketing strategies, and sales processes.
  • Stay informed about trends in the renewable energy sector and climate solutions, including competitor actions and new product developments.

MEASURING SUCCESS

Within 30 days, you will:

  • Complete the comprehensive onboarding process for new hires.
  • Gain a solid understanding of 3Degrees' products, sales processes, and key tools like Salesforce and Google Drive.
  • Identify key target companies within your territory and create an initial outreach plan.

Within 90 days, you will:

  • Draft a detailed territory plan for executing sales, identifying priority accounts and engagement strategies.
  • Initiate outreach to a minimum of 10 high-priority prospects and commence relationship building with key decision-makers.
  • Schedule at least three introductory meetings with major enterprises to showcase 3Degrees' offerings.

Within six months, you will:

  • Establish high-level contacts at your assigned organizations, effectively representing 3Degrees' services.
  • Close your first new business deal, making a positive impact on our quarterly sales objectives.
  • Become a recognized subject matter expert in environmental attributes, carbon credits, and climate consulting, actively participating in strategy discussions and client education.

Within one year, you will:

  • Consistently meet or exceed your sales targets.
  • Build strong, long-term relationships with enterprise clients, becoming the preferred partner for their renewable energy and carbon reduction needs.
  • Be acknowledged as a valuable contributor to the sales team through your collaborative spirit and significant sales achievements.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrable sales success with large national commercial customers (Fortune 1000 companies).
  • A minimum of 5 years of B2B outside sales experience, consistently exceeding ambitious sales targets.
  • At least 3 years of experience engaging Sustainability and/or Energy executives and decision-makers.
  • Firm understanding of Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions alongside global standards and protocols such as GRI, SBTi, and Net Zero.
  • Proficiency in selling RECs, carbon credits, renewable energy, and climate consulting services or closely related products.
  • Skilled in developing and maintaining strong, long-lasting customer relationships.
  • A proactive hunter with a track record of successfully prospecting, identifying, and closing new business opportunities.
  • A passionate commitment to assisting commercial clients in achieving their environmental goals.
  • Experience with value-based selling techniques and strategic solutions selling is preferred.
  • Educational background in finance, business, environmental science, or a related field, or a comparable combination of education and work experience.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • The starting base salary for this position ranges from $123,500.00 to $154,000.00 in the US, dependent on factors like location, skills, work experience, and current market trends.
  • This role is eligible for a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, 401k, flexible paid time off, and more.
  • Supplemental pay may include participation in discretionary bonus programs, the Commercial Sales Commission program, and the company's profit-sharing initiative.
