About the role

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant with a strong background in the engineering, architecture, or professional services industry. This role will be responsible for overseeing key accounting functions, supporting project-based financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Deltek and a deep understanding of project accounting and revenue recognition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle accounting processes, including general ledger, journal entries, and month-end/year-end close
  • Oversee project accounting functions, including job costing, revenue recognition, and WIP (Work-in-Progress) analysis
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP
  • Partner with project managers and leadership to provide financial insights on project performance, budgets, and profitability
  • Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts, including prepaid expenses, accruals, and fixed assets
  • Support audits by preparing schedules, documentation, and responding to auditor inquiries
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Assist with process improvements and system enhancements, particularly within Deltek (Costpoint preferred)
  • Monitor and analyze variances, identifying trends and recommending corrective actions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 8+ years of accounting experience, preferably within engineering, architecture, or professional services environments
  • Strong experience with Deltek (Costpoint highly preferred)
  • Solid understanding of project-based accounting, percentage-of-completion revenue recognition, and job costing
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools
  • CPA or CPA-eligible preferred
