Job Details
Our firm is seeking a dynamic Accountant to join our finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a seasoned professional to make a significant impact in a growing organization. The Senior Accountant role is a permanent position that requires a deep understanding of accounting principles and practices, coupled with a passion for numbers and financial analysis. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in the finance industry, with a focus on managing accounts, ensuring compliance, and improving financial processes. Non-profit experience is a plus.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Accountant, your key responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing accounts payable and receivable, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded in a timely manner.
- Preparing and posting journal entries, maintaining general ledger accounts, and conducting account reconciliations.
- Assisting with month-end close processes, including the preparation of financial statements and reports.
- Ensuring compliance with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Voucher Management System (VMS).
- Utilizing accounting software such as Yardi and QuickBooks to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency.
- Collaborating with other members of the finance team to improve financial procedures and ensure accurate reporting.
- Assisting with audits, fact checks, and resolving discrepancies.
- Providing financial advice and strategic planning support to senior management.
Qualifications
To be considered for the Senior Accountant position, you must possess the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A CPA designation is highly desirable.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in an accounting role.
- Familiarity with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Voucher Management System (VMS).
- Proficiency in accounting software, including Yardi and QuickBooks.
- Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles.
- Excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in preparing financial reports and data.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in the non-profit sector is a plus.
