Senior Accountant / Senior Financial Analyst

We are hiring for a Senior Accountant / Senior Financial Analyst opportunity within the banking and financial services industry. This hybrid role is based in Downtown Toronto and requires 3 to 4 days per week in office.

This is an excellent opportunity for a finance and accounting professional who enjoys a mix of financial reporting, month-end close, reconciliations, variance analysis, forecasting support, and business partnering. The ideal candidate will be analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced financial services environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
• Assist with financial reporting, management reporting, and variance analysis
• Analyze financial results and provide insights on trends, risks, and opportunities
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and planning activities
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
• Prepare reports and financial analysis for internal stakeholders
• Support audit requests, internal controls, and process improvement initiatives
• Partner with finance, operations, and business teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in accounting, financial analysis, or a similar finance role
• Strong experience with month-end close, reconciliations, financial reporting, and variance analysis
• Experience in banking, financial services, insurance, or a regulated environment is an asset
• Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, formulas, and financial analysis
• Experience with ERP, accounting, or reporting systems is preferred
• CPA designation, CPA in progress, or relevant finance/accounting education is preferred
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
