Senior Aeronautical Engineer - Aircraft Performance (Remote)

Our client is seeking a highly accomplished Senior Aeronautical Engineer with expertise in Aircraft Performance to join their innovative, fully remote team. This position offers the flexibility to work from anywhere while contributing to critical aviation projects. You will be responsible for analyzing and optimizing aircraft performance characteristics, including flight dynamics, aerodynamics, propulsion, and weight and balance. Your work will directly influence the design, safety, and efficiency of aircraft.

Key duties involve developing and validating complex performance models, conducting flight test data analysis, and generating performance reports for aircraft certification. You will work closely with design engineers, flight test personnel, and regulatory authorities to ensure compliance with aviation standards and regulations. Expertise in aerodynamic principles, stability and control, and performance simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, CFD software) is essential. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of aircraft systems and their impact on performance.

Responsibilities: Analyze and predict aircraft performance parameters (speed, altitude, range, fuel efficiency). Develop and validate sophisticated aircraft performance models. Conduct flight test planning, execution support, and data analysis. Prepare comprehensive reports for aircraft certification and design reviews. Collaborate with aerodynamic, propulsion, and systems engineering teams. Investigate and resolve aircraft performance anomalies. Ensure compliance with aviation regulations (FAA, EASA) and design standards. Provide technical expertise on weight and balance calculations and center of gravity management. Contribute to the development of flight planning and mission analysis tools. Mentor junior aeronautical engineers. Qualifications: Master's degree or PhD in Aeronautical or Aerospace Engineering. Minimum of 7 years of experience in aircraft performance engineering. Proficiency in aircraft performance analysis software and simulation tools (MATLAB/Simulink, etc.). Strong understanding of aerodynamics, flight dynamics, and propulsion systems. Experience with flight test data analysis and aircraft certification processes. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and computational skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective remote collaboration.
