Senior AI Engineer (m/w/d)

About

As a Senior AI Engineer (m/f/d), you will take on technical leadership in AI projects. You will define architectures, make make-or-buy decisions, coach the team, and be responsible for scalability, security, and operations.

Responsibilities

• End-to-end ownership for architecture, implementation, and operation of AI systems
• Scaling of LLM/ML workloads (performance, costs, observability, guardrails)
• Introduction and further development of MLOps practices (CI/CD, Feature Store, Model Registry)
• Technical sparring for strategy: effort, risk, compliance & realization options
• Code reviews, engineering standards, mentoring, and knowledge building within the team
• Management of external partners/providers, security and data protection conception

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in software/ML engineering, with >2 years in a leadership/architectural role
• Deep practical experience with LLM applications (RAG, tools/agents, evaluations), classical ML pipelines, and data engineering
• Proficient in cloud stacks (AWS/Azure/GCP), Infrastructure-as-Code, observability, SRE basics
• Proven experience in the productive operation of security-relevant systems
• Strong ability to translate technical complexity for business stakeholders
• Very good German and English language skills
