About the role
Our client, a leader at the forefront of AI and emerging technologies, is seeking an accomplished Senior AI Ethicist to champion responsible AI development. This pivotal role is fully remote, allowing you to influence the ethical landscape of artificial intelligence from anywhere. You will be instrumental in establishing guidelines, frameworks, and best practices to ensure our AI systems are developed and deployed in a fair, transparent, accountable, and safe manner. This position requires a deep understanding of AI principles, ethical theory, and regulatory landscapes, coupled with the ability to translate complex concepts into actionable strategies. You will collaborate with AI researchers, engineers, product managers, and legal teams to embed ethical considerations throughout the AI lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement ethical guidelines, policies, and review processes for AI development and deployment. Conduct ethical risk assessments and impact analyses for AI projects. Advise AI teams on mitigating bias, ensuring fairness, and promoting transparency in AI systems. Stay abreast of emerging ethical challenges, regulatory developments, and best practices in AI. Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to ensure adherence to relevant regulations and standards. Develop training materials and conduct workshops on AI ethics for technical and non-technical staff. Engage with external stakeholders, including researchers, policymakers, and the public, on AI ethics issues. Contribute to the development of AI systems that are robust, reliable, and aligned with human values. Promote a culture of responsible innovation and ethical decision-making within the organization. Document ethical considerations, decisions, and outcomes for AI projects. Qualifications: Advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in Philosophy, Ethics, Law, Computer Science with an AI/ML focus, or a related field with a strong emphasis on technology ethics. Minimum of 5 years of experience in AI ethics, technology policy, responsible innovation, or a related field, with demonstrable experience in AI-specific ethical considerations. Deep understanding of AI/ML concepts, algorithms, and their societal implications. Expertise in ethical frameworks, fairness metrics, bias detection, and explainability techniques in AI. Familiarity with global AI regulations, policies, and standards. Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences. Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment. Experience in developing policies and guidelines for complex technical domains. Passion for ensuring that AI technology benefits society responsibly.
