About the role
Core purpose of the role
To provide business insights and intelligence by accurately analysing and interpreting critical business data based on past, current and futuristic trends of both current and potential customers and markets for competitive advantage. Assess and manage the fleet and rental capital investment risk for the business to minimise financial losses and ensure required return on investment.
Key deliverables and outputs
Price Modelling
- Through effective understanding of the value drivers, build and maintain pricing model/s that will enable effective and competitive pricing decisions.
- Generate, validate and analyse the data and present findings on regional/business trends and profitability to inform business decisions
- Liaise with business stakeholders in order to determine optimal pricing and communicate findings to all relevant stakeholders
- Conduct market research and competitor analysis to evaluate demand for new and existing products
- Liaise with department analysts to implement efficient pricing structures and provide productivity improvements
- Review and update pricing model for competitive and effective pricing digressions and future rates
- Identify and implement improvements into the pricing tool model and manage versions (document and model change management)
- Develop statistical models as required
- Maintenance Fund management. Quarterly actuarial valuations and results analysis
- Prepare an annual budget and ensure that expenses are in line
- Ensure that accurate and complete analysis and interpretation of various data sets, concepts and/or ideas (related and unrelated) is provided in order to convert this into business intelligence and guide decision making.
- To provide insights on market trends, competitive landscape, etc. for input into the annual business plan.
Projects and additional revenue opportunities
- Analyse revenue targets
- Develop and present feasible pricing proposal and implement timeously
- Action project plan as per steps identified, report on progress and maintain special projects database with record of key learnings
Contribution/ROIC Model
- Provide relevant input into the contribution/Return on invested capital model and Internal Rate of Return
Reporting
- Document and report on industry (competitor and Avis and Budget) pricing and fleet trends, as well as changes thereof
- Report on progression and performance of projects, pricing models and system changes- BI solutions, statistics software and Pricing Tool
- Provide ad hoc reports as requested
- Provide monthly reports to Sales and Operations
- Ensure that regular sales and profitability reports for deviations management are created and maintained
Meetings
- Attend the demand review meeting as required
- Attend and participate in daily huddles and monthly team meetings
- Attend Operations team meetings to provide demand insight and understand their challenges
- Attend Regional Country meetings for pricing purposes, to share demand insights and understand challenges.
Stakeholders (internal & external customers, suppliers, shareholders, communities)
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with key segment and Operations managers (SA and regional countries)
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with the Finance and IT teams
- Share technical knowledge and insight with internal customers to enhance decision making.
Internal and External Stakeholders
The role requires close engagement and collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders.
Internal Stakeholders
Sales segment managers, Operations Managers (SA and Regional Countries), IT team, Finance team, Marketing/Digital team, Reservations Call Centre.
External Stakeholders
QL2 supplier through ABG (UK)
Academic Qualifications
Essential:
- BCom/BSc Honors degree in Mathematics, Statistics or Economics
- Data analytics; statistical software as part of degree
- Driver’s License
Advantageous:
- BCom/BSc Honours degree in Mathematics, Statistics or Economics
- Certifications in AI/ML
Note: Quarterly travel within SA and to the Regional Countries will be required.
Work Experience
Essential:
- 1 - 3 Years’ experience in business financial performance
Advantageous:
- Previous experience in car rental/automotive industry (1 - 3 years)
