About this Role
Mixpanel is seeking a data‑driven and strategic Senior Analytics Engineer to join our growing Analytics team. This role is essential to scaling our analytics capabilities across GTM, Post‑Sales, and Product functions. You will work closely with cross‑functional stakeholders—including software engineers, data scientists, product leaders, and go‑to‑market teams—to build scalable data infrastructure and deliver high‑quality, trustworthy datasets that power impactful decision‑making. As a Senior Analytics Engineer, you'll lead initiatives to clean and own product utilization pipelines, enhance the customer data platform (CDP) infrastructure, and reduce operational friction across teams by enabling self‑serve analytics.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, build, and maintenance of data pipelines that power GTM attribution, account health, ROI, and product usage analytics.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to produce clean, structured datasets that simplify access and analysis for GTM and Product teams.
- Augment and improve our customer data platform (CDP), ensuring data accuracy and completeness for downstream consumers.
- Translate ambiguous stakeholder needs into data models and dashboards that support strategic business decisions.
- Establish trust in data through testing, validation, documentation, and quality monitoring.
- Drive medium‑ to long‑term roadmap initiatives that reduce data‑science dependency and improve product metric reliability.
We're Looking For Someone Who Has
- Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or similar roles.
- Hands‑on experience with dbt (DBT Core + GitHub Actions) for modern data transformation and modeling workflows.
- Expertise in SQL, including writing efficient and complex queries for large‑scale data transformation and modeling.
- Proficiency in Python for data transformation, automation, and workflow orchestration.
- Experience with collaborative software development practices including version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Hands‑on experience in ETL/ELT pipeline development and data modeling (e.g., star/snowflake schemas).
- Familiarity with data warehousing platforms like BigQuery, Snowflake, or Redshift.
- Strong communication skills and experience working cross‑functionally with both technical and non‑technical partners.
- A proactive, collaborative mindset and the ability to work autonomously in ambiguous environments.
- Comfort navigating stakeholder priorities in a high‑growth startup environment.
Bonus Points For
- Familiarity with product analytics and user behavior metrics.
- Experience with using and/or implementing Mixpanel.
- Exposure to data ingestion tools like Fivetran, Airbyte, etc.
- Experience building or maintaining CDPs or event‑driven pipelines.
- Prior work supporting GTM, sales, or customer success teams with analytics.
- A passion for multiplying the impact of data science by reducing overhead and increasing data accessibility.
- Outstanding technical writing skills.
Compensation
- Total Target Cash Compensation (TTCC) range: $165,000 – $214,190 USD (includes base salary and variable compensation).
