Senior Android Engineer (freelance/perm)

Overview

Are you an Android developer who thrives on tackling complex mobile experiences in the payments space?
DNA.inc is looking for a Senior Android Engineer for a long-term project with a leading payments company. You’ll work closely with client teams — engineers, designers, and product specialists — to strengthen internal capabilities and deliver robust, quality‑driven platforms.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will collaborate with other engineers to build high‑quality, reliable Android applications for one of DNA.inc’s marquee clients. Teams often work directly within client teams, ensuring close collaboration and shared ownership of product quality and outcomes.

Requirements

• Enjoy building complex, high‑quality applications for large user bases
• Have at least 5 years of demonstrable, professional experience in modern Android development, including Kotlin, coroutines and Reactive programming
• Be familiar with topics such as automated testing, using Git in multi‑team collaboration, reviewing pull requests
• Value code quality: readability, testability, and scalability
• Be a team player and an effective consulting partner to clients
• Be based in or around New York City. Although this role is primarily a remote or hybrid position, periodic on‑site presence with our client will be expected

Preferred Skills

Ideally, you can also bring expertise in subjects such as:

• Android Automotive OS (AAOS)
• Java
• Media players and streaming (audio and/or video)
• In‑app purchases
• Localization
• Large modularized codebases
• Design systems/patterns
