Senior ATE Test Development Engineer (Freelance Contract) – Onsite, Germany

Project Overview

We are seeking an experienced ATE Test Development Engineer to support the development of test programs for microcontroller test chips with embedded NVM (Non-Volatile Memory) on the Teradyne J750 platform.

The project focuses on NVM evaluation within a new technology node and requires strong hands-on experience in digital test development and debugging within a secure onsite lab environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement production and confidence-level test programs on Teradyne J750
• Create and debug test programs and test patterns for embedded NVM evaluation
• Execute engineering tests in a lab environment on wafers and devices
• Optimize test programs to reduce test-related yield loss
• Analyse and evaluate test data to support NVM learning cycles and performance improvements
• Document results and communicate findings clearly within cross-functional engineering teams
• Support characterization and product evaluation activities

Required Skills & Experience

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline
• Expert-level experience in digital test development on Teradyne J750
• Strong VBA programming skills
• Experience with:
  • Jira
  • SVN / Git version control tools
• General programming and scripting knowledge:
  • Batch scripting
  • Ideally C / C++ and Python
• Hands-on experience with:
  • Automated Test Equipment (ATE)
  • Lab measurement equipment
• Experience processing and evaluating engineering test data
• Understanding of statistical analysis methods
• Strong documentation and communication skills
• Team-oriented mindset with ability to collaborate across engineering groups

Important Contract Requirement

Please note that this role can only be engaged on a business-to-business freelance basis within Germany.

Candidates must already have:

• An established freelance/B2B setup in Germany (e.g. Freiberufler or registered company), or
• The legal right to work as an independent contractor in Germany.
