Our client, a renowned automotive manufacturer, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Automotive Design Engineer to join their innovative engineering team. This is a critical on-site role where you will be at the forefront of designing and developing next-generation vehicle components and systems. You will leverage your deep technical expertise to drive product innovation, ensuring superior performance, aesthetics, and functionality.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of automotive components and systems from concept through to production, focusing on areas such as chassis, powertrain, interior, or exterior design.
• Create detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings using industry-standard software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
• Conduct engineering analysis, including Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), to validate designs and optimize performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including styling, manufacturing, testing, and purchasing, to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability.
• Develop and maintain design documentation, specifications, and Bill of Materials (BOMs).
• Identify and implement innovative design solutions to improve product performance, reduce weight, enhance safety, and lower costs.
• Support prototype builds and testing activities, analyze results, and implement design modifications.
• Stay current with automotive industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor product offerings.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the development of design standards and best practices.
• Ensure designs comply with all relevant regulatory standards, safety requirements, and OEM specifications.
• Prepare and present design reviews to management and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline. Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in automotive design engineering.
• Proficiency in advanced 3D CAD software is mandatory.
• Strong understanding of automotive materials, manufacturing processes, and assembly techniques.
• Experience with CAE tools (FEA, CFD) for design validation.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
• Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics, powertrain systems, or interior/exterior styling principles, depending on specialization.
• Exceptional communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly.
• Experience working directly with suppliers and manufacturing partners.
• A passion for automotive design and innovation.

This role requires the engineer to be physically present at our facility in Makurdi, Benue, NG , contributing directly to the hands-on development of cutting-edge automotive solutions.
