About the role
Our client, a leading innovator in the automotive sector, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Automotive Mechanical Engineer to join their esteemed R&D department. This is an on-site position based in **Benin City, Edo, NG**, where you will play a pivotal role in the design, development, and testing of next-generation automotive components and systems. You will leverage your extensive engineering expertise to drive product innovation, enhance performance, and ensure the highest standards of quality and reliability.
Key Responsibilities: Lead the mechanical design and development of automotive components, subsystems, and systems, from concept to production. Perform complex engineering calculations, simulations (FEA, CFD), and analyses to validate designs and predict performance under various operating conditions. Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD models, drawings, and specifications using industry-standard software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, AutoCAD). Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineering, software development, manufacturing, and testing, to ensure seamless integration of mechanical components. Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for validation and verification of components and systems. Troubleshoot design issues, identify root causes of failures, and implement effective corrective actions. Research and evaluate new materials, technologies, and manufacturing processes to improve product performance, cost-effectiveness, and manufacturability. Mentor junior engineers, providing technical guidance and support. Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes and best practices. Ensure compliance with automotive industry standards, regulations, and quality requirements. Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation for project reviews and stakeholder communication. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in automotive mechanical engineering, with a strong focus on design and development. Proven expertise in CAD software, FEA/CFD analysis tools, and engineering simulation software. In-depth knowledge of automotive systems, powertrain, chassis, body structures, and thermal management. Solid understanding of materials science, manufacturing processes, and quality control principles relevant to the automotive industry. Experience with vehicle testing and validation procedures. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and teamwork abilities. Proficiency in relevant engineering software and tools. A proactive approach to innovation and continuous learning.
