Senior Backend Developer
Location: Rotterdam
Hours: 32 – 40 hours per week

Together with a compact, engaged team of designers, strategists and developers we build reliable, user‑friendly solutions for the health and sport sector.
Responsibilities
- Own the technical setup of our projects.
- Collaborate with other developers, designers and product owners in multidisciplinary (scrum) teams.
- Make technical choices, keep track of feasibility and scope, and deliver scalable backend solutions.
- Lead the creation of new technical foundations or architecture.
- Share knowledge, mentor colleagues, and contribute directly to backend development.
- Help integrate AI technology responsibly (e.g., rapid prototyping, personalization, smart feedback, data processing).
- Guard and improve code quality, security and maintainability.
- Communicate technical decisions clearly to clients, enabling them to understand and contribute.
Requirements / Profile
- Approximately 5 years experience as a developer, comfortable with technical responsibility.
- Experience designing software architecture and building projects from the ground up.
- Familiarity with various hosting solutions and server setups.
- Strong knowledge of Node.js and databases.
- Awareness of frontend frameworks such as Next.js or Flutter.
- Interest in or experience with AI tools/techniques (machine learning, generative AI, smart interfaces).
- Preference for clear, well‑documented, transferable code and thoughtful system/process design.
- Ability to realistically assess project feasibility and avoid unnecessary technical complexity.
- Up‑to‑date with privacy and security regulations (including the AI‑Act); ISO 27001 knowledge is a plus.
- Affinity with healthcare and sport; experience in this sector is a plus.

Requirements
- Je hebt zo'n 5 jaar ervaring als developer en voelt je comfortabel in een rol met technische verantwoordelijkheid.
- Je hebt ervaring met het opzetten van software-architectuur en kunt een project van de grond af (samen) opbouwen.
- Je weet je ook raad met verschillende hosting oplossingen en server setups.
- Je hebt kennis en ervaring met Node.js en databases.
- Frontend frameworks zoals Next.js of Flutter zijn je niet onbekend.
- Je hebt interesse in of al ervaring met AI-tools of -technieken, bijvoorbeeld op het gebied van machine learning, generatieve AI of slimme interfaces.

- Je kunt realistisch inschatten wat haalbaar is binnen een project, en voorkomt onnodige technische complexiteit.
- Je bent op de hoogte van wet & regelgeving rondom privacy en security (waaronder AI-act).
- Kennis en ervaring met ISO27001 is mooi meegenomen.
- Je hebt affiniteit met zorg en sport.
- Ervaring in deze branche is een plus.
Responsibilities

- Je neemt het voortouw bij het opzetten van een nieuwe technische basis of architectuur.
- Je helpt ook collega's groeien door kennis te delen, mee te denken en te sparren en werkt zelf aan de backend van het project.
- Verder denk je mee over hoe we AI-technologie op een slimme én verantwoorde manier kunnen inzetten binnen projecten en processen (bijvoorbeeld voor versnelling, rapid prototyping, personalisatie, slimme feedback of dataverwerking).
- Je helpt bij het bewaken en verder brengen van codekwaliteit, veiligheid en onderhoudbaarheid.
- Je bent in staat helder te communiceren met klanten over technische keuzes, zodat je ze in staat stelt deze te begrijpen en zelf mee te denken.
